Should You Increase Your Amazon PPC Budget? 7 Signs You're Ready

More Budget Doesn't Fix Bad PPC

One of the easiest buttons to press in Ads Console is:

Increase budget.

Amazon may even recommend it.

Sometimes it's exactly the right decision. Sometimes it simply allows an inefficient campaign to lose money for longer.

Amazon's own budget guidance recommends evaluating conversions, bidding, targeting and product detail-page performance before simply increasing underperforming campaign budgets.

Here are seven things I look for.

1. The Campaign Actually Converts

Basic, but essential. If spending increases but orders don't, more budget isn't my first solution.

2. ACoS Makes Commercial Sense

Compare ACoS against:

  • Margin
  • Break-even ACoS
  • Campaign purpose

A ranking campaign may tolerate more than a profit campaign.

3. TACoS Is Healthy

If overall advertising dependence is rising rapidly, I'd investigate before scaling.

4. CVR Is Strong

Strong conversion means additional traffic has a better chance of becoming revenue.

5. The Campaign Is Actually Budget Limited

If a £50 campaign only spends £27, increasing the budget to £100 achieves nothing.

Budget is not the limiting factor.

6. Inventory Can Support Growth

This is often forgotten. If you've only got three weeks of stock, doubling PPC may create a stockout rather than sustainable growth.

7. You Know What You're Scaling

I'd prefer:

“We're increasing this Exact campaign because these five keywords consistently convert.”

rather than:

“Sales are good, so let's double everything.”

Reallocate Before Adding More

Sometimes the best way to scale doesn't require more total PPC spend. Move money from:

  • Poor campaigns
  • Irrelevant targets
  • Weak placements

into proven performers.

Amazon also recommends reallocating budget from weaker campaigns towards campaigns generating conversions.

Where I Can Help

I help sellers answer the bigger question:

Should we spend more — and if so, exactly where?

That's a much better growth conversation than simply increasing every budget.
